And an eye ever open for some fun
Room 1 - The Crown and Anchor - Lindisfarne
I took not very well last night, and our intended gorgeous meal never happened.
I managed my starter, and then could do no more. Poor Si ate his meal and looked at me perturbed as I moved linguine around the plate hoping that I could get some of it down me.
We headed back to the hotel less than an hour after we set out, so we were well in bed before lock down. I wandered from the bed to the toilet and finally felt relieved after relieving myself (very quietly) after much silent gagging.
Weirdly - we have no idea what was wrong - it came on so suddenly and appeared to be happening in waves. Truth be told, I think it was sea sickness.
Anyway - you can imagine my distress at the prospect of other customers complaining about my wretching. So I kept it as quiet as i could.
Breakfast was not brilliant at the hotel, and we left as quickly as we could. We won't be back.
From the moment we left - things improved.
We flew the drone - see extra; and then headed out of Edinburgh and out of Scotland.
The road was stop start in a couple of places, but we made good time and had a visit to Alnwick Books, for a browse and an ice cream, before heading to our next destination and the tide.
Lindisfarne was our next destination; we've been before and stayed in a glorious Air BB but this time we decided to stay in the hotel where we ate before. I am so glad we did - it was a fabulous stay.
We arrived just as the Hoomans were leaving - in their hoards. We checked in and just enjoyed the beautiful room with a window overlooking the priory.
Then we took a walk to the Priory and then down through the harbour. This place is so beautiful and quiet it is a perfect treat to be there. Just being. Just sitting. Just looking. Perfect.
We walked back through the "other" main street and stopped off for a pint in the Ship Inn. ALL the seats inside were reserved for diners - there are a limited number of places to eat in Lindisfarne and once the tide is out- it's out. And strangely - they all offer meals between 5 and 8. No late dining in this neck of the woods.
I do not know where they got the chef at the Crown and Anchor but he is a dream. I had forgotten how great the food had been the last time we stayed here, but it is exquisite. Beautifully presented and taste is all.
Amazing meal, followed by drinkies, and people watching. It was a perfect night.
Such an amazing sleep in this little land of holiness.
