Apricots
A hot and sunny day at last!
We spent most of the day in the garden tidying up and watering. Also, I sowed some Dierama seeds I had bought at Ventnor Botanic Gardens in July, encouraged by TonyG's lovely blips of flowering Angel's Fishing Rods. I'm not sure I have his green fingers or patience to wait several years for them to bloom but I thought I would give it a go. I also potted on some primrose and sweet violet plants, I had grown from seed, and want to plant out this autumn to create a wild flower patch some where local.
This evening I poached some apricots in ginger wine with star anise and a little brown sugar, which are now chilling ready for tomorrow. It's my favourite way of eating fresh apricots. (Actually, I find most many foods taste better cooked in, or served, with alcohol.....)
