Let the week be-gin

It’s only Monday, but I felt I deserved a g&t when I got home.

Although my job for the most part isn’t hard, being a dental therapist also means I often have to act as a regular therapist too, which can be hard when patients feel the need to open up (which they never do to the dentist).

I had a patient this morning who I last saw 3 months ago, when she was happy with a clear scan following treatment for breast cancer. Sadly, a more recent scan bore bad news, so she’s set for more treatment.

I’m not a trained counsellor, so all I can do is offer a sympathetic ear (and a tissue) when needed.

Although she was upset, she’s got a determined spirit and I’m sure that will get her through the tough times ahead, along with the support of her family. :-(
