Demolition #3

Well, this day has come much sooner than we thought it would! This bulldoser (?) is perched on top of rubble that is filling up OUR flat! It is very methodically demolishing flat No. 9 the floor of which has already collapsed into Flat No. 5! The operator is so incredibly skilled and takes apart the buildings at an incredible rate.

I hate to think what they will build here after all the rubble etc is cleared. The building I lived in had 12 flats (4 flats on each floor) in all and hardly any walkways because of the clever way it was designed. The trend since the 80s has been to make buildings with lots of flats on each floor thereby necessitating very long corridors. Horrible!

The one we live in at the moment only has 3 flats per floor (even more amazing!) and 9 in the entire building. It does have shops at the bottom which I really don't like, but you can't have it all.

A good day on the whole. Finally got a Zoe Kenway canvas stretched on to a frame and can't wait to hang it up now. It's only been 2 1/2 years! Met up with a friend for lunch for a delicious Indian meal AND after waiting for WEEKS, I got to have some Baskin Robbins icecream! Treat.
