2021 Labor Day Monday

Early this morning I put this on my social media page:

During the quiet of this holiday morning, shrouded in coastal moisture, listening to the huffing and chuffing of our coffeemaker, I did a searching glance out the window. The driveway across our little street announced,

“Free! Take 1.”

And so we did; well actually Mr. Fun did and brought it upstairs to me. A sand dollar! Wealth from the sea. The ocean makes us rich!

Later my friend Joy and her husband, who live on Ocean Avenue (main road thru town) wrote on my FB page: “The morning is not so quiet on Ocean Avenue; lots of cars.”

And I responded: “Joy: Yes, I’m sure lots of vacationers headed for home. We hear the Harleys in the distance, but overall very peaceful. There is no view today; just a cocoon of moisture. Do you two want to come have a cup of coffee with us?”

I knew they had had a house full of visitors this holiday weekend. They have two guest rooms, and now all their friends had returned home. Joy responded that they were waiting for the dryer to finish and then they were headed out for a meal. So a long time later, after their meal, they texted and came over.

We enjoyed several hours of leisurely conversation with them as we all watched the ocean beyond our windows. Joy’s husband, Tom, had never been to our home. We enjoyed our time with them very much.
