Datura stramonium!

Also known as Jimpson Weed, Devils Snare, Thorn Apple or Devils Trumpet. You can see the spiky “fruit”. So take your pick. It’s in the swede field where we walk the dogs. It’s actually quite a nasty one and is a member of the Nightshade family. Interesting Wikipedia entry which gives all information and also that it has been used for medicinal purposes and can be smoked but the side effects (should one try it) can be fairly horrific!!

It is not native to this country but probably originated in Central America. How it got to downtown Houndsmoor I have no idea.
