Snapping Turtle
This ginormous snapping turtle was getting ready to cross the Wildlife Loop road on Assateague this morning. After our photoshoot he motored on across. There was basically no danger of his being run over as the public can only drive on the loop in the late afternoon/early evening. And even then, they'd be going very slowly. The Assateague Island National Seashore is a good place for him/her to live. And given his/her size, I'd say s/he has been living there for many years!
