Swinfen
Heavy snowfall overnight with strong winds left a very white world to wake up to this morning.
Mum was in need of supplies so I headed out towards Lichfield, keeping an eye out for possible images as I drove. I've come to the conclusion that you have to start walking to find the best vistas, so I parked up in a lay-by on the A38 and started walking down a bridle path at the side of Swinfen Hall. This shot was probably taken about 3/4 of a mile down the track.
When shooting in snow I always add +1 stop of exposure to the meter value to make sure the snow is white, rather than grey. WIth that exception this is pretty much straight out of the camera, just a bit of sharpening to bring out detail in the branches.
I hope you are OK and this unseasonable weather hasn't inconvenienced you too much. Hard to believe I was on the summit of Scafell Pike the corresponding Saturday last year in shorts and a tea shirt (wouldn't have fancied being up there in the last 24 hours!)
