Wye Valley Walk start

Day 1 from Chepstow to Tintern which is 6 miles according to the guide book. Somehow I’ve done 25000 steps/113 floors … :)
At 7:30 am we walked to the bus stop to catch the 8:15 am bus which took us to the train station for the 8:58 . Just over an hour to Chepstow where we had a coffee and a mooch, before getting our guide book stamped. The walk was a lot of up and down, on a high path through woods, with little glimpses of the river occasionally in the valley. It was nice to be in the cool of the trees on a very warm day. We arrived in Tintern at about 2, had a drink and looked round the abbey which is a beautiful ruin ( which is as a result of the dissolution of the monasteries in the 16c. where we are now relaxing before dinner. There is a restaurant on site with a very nice menu !
