Postcard from Aberdour

Yet another day exploring bits of Scotland unknown to us yet less than an hour away, part of our staycation holiday.
This is Aberdour famed for it Silver Sands beach. Even though it was midweek the beach was busy but at weekends I understand it is mobbed.
 
But the attraction for M was not the beach but Aberdour castle a ruin going back to the 1200, making it one of the oldest castles in Scotland. (See extra).
Like all Scottish castles it has a chequered and bloody history.
 
Its claim to fame these days though is that it featured in the first series of the television hit Outlander.
