The Washing Machine

Went shopping and for a coffee down town this afternoon.
Decided to take my wife out to the point to see the waves on the breakwater,
as it is still blowing.
You could see the rollers as you came along Grey Hope Road.
The Surf was building up way off shore.
Never seen them that big or white topped, so far out.
We walked down to the breakwater for two minutes
and then we drove to the little pier below the lighthouse
that has featured in many a blip.
Foam was right up the headland.
It is impossible to give any sense of scale or distance.
Suffice to say this is a really big sea running.
It is still blowing as I type.
You have to feel sorry for all those men
out in the North Sea keeping our economy alive.
