A Muggy Day
Another lovely couple of walks today with my friends D and M, plus lunch and a trip to the shops. I was after a new laptop, but very little in stock. In fact the clothes shops were disappointing too. A cloudy and muggy day, feels like we’re due a thunderstorm.
Day 542 / Day 53 of Step 4 of Roadmap Easing (for my record only)
The highest case rates are among 10-19 year olds. The Govt has launched a consultation on whether vaccines should be mandatory for all frontlines health staff - tbh I thought they started that weeks ago! The MHRA approves Pfizer and AZ vaccines for use as a booster shot - the JCVI has still to decide if and when it’s needed and who gets it. Moderna is testing a one shot jab that could provide extra protection against both flu and coronavirus. Urgent cancer referrals in Eng in July were up a quarter from last year. A record 5.6m were waiting to start routine hospital treatment in Eng at the end of July. A study reports a low risk of catching Covid in public toilets but reminded people not to eat or drink there or go on their phones!!!
