Waiting Room
Although had disembarked just after 8am, after a smooth journey, our car had not travelled with us on the MV Hjaltland but by freight on the MV Helliar, which arrived at 10.30.
We left our overnight bags in the left luggage room and wandered towards town for about an hour but the drizzle turned to rain so we returned to the terminal to read for the remaining hour or so, sitting with this view. As you know, I'm fond of a stained glass window so sought the name of the artist - and discovered information tucked behind the two huge promotional banners. So helpful!
The panels, depicting various Shetland scenes (too numerous to detail just now, I might edit when home) were designed by Stella Walterson and created by Harry Tait, commissioned by Lerwick Port Authority. Between them you can see MV Hjaltland, being prepared for its overnight return to Aberdeen.
Fortunately our car was quickly off the ferry and we were on our way, picked up provisions then visited the museum until appetites demanded lunch, which was provided by the cafe in Mareel.
Now ensconced in our self-catering home, chilling out and planning our itinerary for the week.
