The Flying Dutchman

Left Tiree this morning in pouring rain. Vary calm seas between Tiree and Mull and along the sound of Mull. I was told two Orcas had been seen off Mull in the last few days but they didn't show for us, though we did see a pod of about a dozen dolphins in the distance at one point. We passed this schooner, Flying Dutchman, at the east end of the sound: a quick search on the internet reveals that it was a herring logger built in 1903 and converted to a sailing schooner in 2004. She is 39m long and has 10 cabins for up to 20 passengers. You can book an 8 day tour of Scotland on her for 1440 euro. The extra is a black headed gull taking off from the water.
