Yardfest

Back in Saltaire this afternoon to sing with the ATN choir at Yardfest. This is a great little event in Upper Ada Street ( most of the streets in the village are named after Sir Titus Salt’s family) in the UNESCO heritage village and is part of the annual Saltaire Festival.

The street is closed off and quite narrow so it soon becomes crowded as you can see, busier I think than last time two years ago. There was some poetry reading as we arrived and then we sang 10 songs which seemed to go down well. It was warm and sunny with just one cloud blowing over carrying a tiny hint of rain.

Really enjoyable as usual. There was a food stall and a beer stall but with a very long queue so after we’d finished we headed up to the ‘Hop’ or Salts Beer Factory which literally used to be a tram shed. We sat outside for a couple of drinks with Yorkshirebred before getting the bus back home.

A great Saturday afternoon. The festival is on till next weekend so we may return.

The top right came from Wilsden Walker who was watching (see The Watchers last Sunday ).  I was somewhere in the middle near the front in the photo, but you might be able to spot Chris at the far side near the wall.

This morning Chris was picking Damsons in my friends garden.  More of Autumn’s store which will be made into Damson gin for Christmas!
