Next Week

Next week I’ll get a breather, it’s been a hectic last week finished off today with the Rick Rescorla Commemoration Service at Hayle.
Part of the 9/11 Remembrance Events Rescorla’s story is well known; born in 1939 in Hayle, Cornwall he joined the British Army, the Parachute Regiment, on leaving the Army he spent time in the Rhodesian Police Force before joining the Metropolitan Police. He then emigrated to the U.S and joined the U.S Army seeing combat in Vietnam and rising to the rank of Colonel.
On retirement he joined the financial company Morgan Stanley as head of security. Following the first bomb attack on the World Trade Centre he trained the Morgan Stanley employees to evacuate the building on his command.
On the day of the attack, 9/11, all 2,700 Morgan Stanley employees evacuated the South Tower safely, Rick Rescorla continued to re-enter the South Tower to assist the emergency services. He was still in the South Tower when it collapsed and his body has never been recovered.
