I know we all have our stories…
In going through everything in this cabin, I uncovered this accordion book I made in 2001 of the car trip we made that year on the Trans Canada Highway, coast to coast. It's best large. (extra: the back and front of the book) We started on Sept 9 in the old blue volvo, from Seattle, left the motel in Lake Louise where we had spend the night of the 10th. there was no tv so it wasn’t until we started driving and turned on the car radio that we heard the news. Our #1 son was living and working in NYC 10 blocks from the WTC at the time but there were no phone lines open and it wasn’t until that evening he was able to leave a message on our home phone. We know he goes to work late and were hoping he didn’t have a client there. Still, nail biting, to say the least! He was on his bike on the west side when he took this picture in my book…and quickly went back home. Of course we couldn’t get across the border to the US then so just kept on with our driving trip,, finding all sorts of others’ tourist plans cancelled, and so many lovely people and moving memorials along the way. We were planning on stopping in NYC on the way back across America, but that didn’t happen… They did drive up to Duxbury MA where his wife’s family lives for a visit with us there.
And that is one of the reasons they moved to Seattle. Never to be forgotten. Just watched the netflix movie “Worth” which brought out so many memories…
This morning I was looking forward to coffee and reading in bed with a soft rain outside….only the rain didn’t start til noon or so……but here is the image anyway…..
Spent a couple of hours inside with our neighbors catching up..it’s still dribbling out of the sky.
