Catkin

This catkin belongs to a very large acer negundo, or box elder.
It's not very special, and certainly not what I would have planted there, but is in the centre of the garden and has seen a lot of people enjoying its shade over the years.
It's just about at the end of its life, and should be removed, but I can't bear to think what it will look like.
