Let the train take the strain...
Standing on the Pendolino is not a good place to take pictures, unless you like a bit of blur. This is my research team returning from a long trip to London to meet our advisory group - delayed in the morning by overhead wires down at Milton Keynes, and for much longer in the evening after someone got hit by a train near Rugby, so detours again. Our meeting finished at 4.30 and we got back to Preston at 10pm. Bernie (left of picture) said that the last time she saw the departure boards at Euston so empty was on 7/7, when she was in a tube following behind the one with the bomb.
The day was also marred by the fact that the link person at the funding organisation (who I won't name) had forgotten to send our draft final report to the advisory group members in time for the meeting. Still, it's nice to get out of the office for the day, and they did pay our train fares (£600 total). And the pasties were excellent.
