Wound up in Wexford

Hmmm .....

....... when I booked tickets (on 25th September last year - I know it was that date, because I recorded the fact on Blip) to see Fascinating Aida again, I had little idea what lay in store in the winter.  The tickets were booked for 9th May - but of course that show was cancelled, and our tickets were transferred to 13th September.

We really enjoyed the show - many of the songs were the same as previous shows, but there were of course some topical additions, including many digs at the Tory Government and their (mis)handling of Brexit and the pandemic.

But I couldn't help reflecting that this is our first significant exposure to risk, and that if we pick up Covid as a result of this trip, whilst we are unlikely to be seriously ill, as we are both double vaccinated, it will really bugger our plans for later this month!  Most (but not all) were wearing masks in the foyer and toilets, but many then discarded them after they were seated in the auditorium (where there were few empty seats).  We were asked to do a lateral flow test before attending - I hope these people were all as obedient as us and were all negative.  The only good part is that the politics of Fascinating Aida, and the average age of the audience suggest that few, if any, will be rampant anti-vaxxers, and most will be fully vaccinated.

As we left, we passed a totally unmasked queue of "youfs" waiting to let into a night club - a very different section of society!
