Lyme Regis

We nipped over the county border to Lyme Regis in Dorset to do some fossil hunting.
When we arrived we parked on Monmouth Beach Car Park then sat in the car a few minutes as it rained a little but that was all the rain we saw that day and later the sun came out.
We spent a good while on Monmouth Beach looking for fossils then mooched around the seafront after coffee by the sandy beach. We discussed whether to walk along the seafront to the museum or move the car to a nearer car park. Terry is not a walking fan so we opted for moving the car.
This was a huge mistake! 
We could not get to the car park we wanted - how to access it - but it looked rammed anyway so we drove about a bit before finding a car park which we thought was not too far from the museum.
I was not impressed by the steep downhill walk to the museum as I knew it would be hard going getting back up it later - I told Terry he might have to leave me near the bottom and come and pick me up!
The museum was fantastic and well worth going to. Some amazing specimens. Really interesting.
After this we had lunch in a cafe - it was a steep uphill climb to this and I could have done with oxygen! The cafe was fab though.
We went for a mooch on the seafront and we were looking for fossils for a short time on the pebbly beach there.
There is an earthcache at Lyme Regis which requies you to find a fossil on the beach as part of the criteria - we have collected a number of things off the beaches but we have no way of knowing if any of them are fossils!
We wanted to find a fossil while we were down here - it's the Jurassic Coast - what could be nicer than bringing your own fossil find home?
Anyway, I had resigned myself to not being able to log a find on the earthcache.
