Not a pretty sight. This is a place where a variety of plants grow with colourful flowers from March to September and very occasionally ducks have been seen.  Now the plants have been cut, leaving the little rowan trees and reedmace in a SUDS site.  What had not been visible was the large amount of rubbish hidden in the tall vegetation including a bike and a child’s trike which possibly were stolen leaving some upset children.
Today I read an article about the amount of litter picked up since June on a stretch of about 11 miles on the A92 with more than 580 bags having been filled with rubbish that had been thrown out from vehicles.  Many areas of the country have become unsightly and dangerous to wildlife due to broken glass, cans, plastic, packets and drug paraphernalia.  Some people don’t care but fortunately we have to be grateful for the many who do and who volunteer to collect tons of litter each week.   The plants should grow again and probably so will the litter.
