Mt Tzouhalem
We live on Mt Tzou, and it’s a fairly easy hike to the top, and “the cross”, which is no longer there. It was cut down this year. It has been a really hard year for us and particularly our First Nations people, as it was confirmed that thousands of children were buried in unmarked graves at Indian residential schools, where all indigenous children were forced to attend. The schools were sanctioned by the Canadian government and run by the church from the 1880’s to the 1990’s and generations have been scarred by this horrific tragedy. To be honest, it was a relief that someone took the cross down - I can’t imagine having to live underneath that cross as a First Nation person and having to see it every day and I’m glad that it is gone.
