Spanish Guitar….
This is a bittersweet (very, very, very) one for me.
I’ve been teaching myself the very basics of guitar since the summer. May or June I think. I can’t actually remember.
My fingers still hurt but they’ve toughened up, and I suppose I am slowly finding myself able to actually recognise the music I’m trying to play. Very slowly.
Still find chord transitions difficult with certain chords, and getting somewhat frustrated as I didn’t want to learn simply to strum some chords.
Ultimately I wanted to learn Spanish guitar and classical guitar music. I’m a longgggg way (years and years) from that but today I decided I had better start trying to interpret and play something other than basic chords. After all, we don’t improve by standing still or remaining within our comfort zones.
I managed to pick this up in about ten minutes. Not because I have any discernible talent but rather because it is very easy, I used to play both the organ and a little piano and could read sheet music easy so getting my head around tabs was probably more of a challenge than finding the notes (at this stage)
I’m not overly impressed with myself. I am still avoiding a lot of songs I’d like to play by chord simply because there are so many chords that I tell myself I’m not ready for them yet……although I never will be if I don’t just bite then bullet and take them on.
I’ve always wanted to run before I could walk I suppose
To the one person who encouraged me to get on with learning now I have the time, and who actually always encouraged and looked out for me in just about every conceivable way.
If you ever see this then you should know that I could never thank you enough
One day I may even be able to play well enough that I would play something for you.
Accompanied by coffee and pie
I hope you’re ok…
Stay safe everyone.
