Fritillaria meleagris
This I am told is the posh name for the Snakes head Fritillary blipped a couple of days ago.
Having popped my nose through the back door this morning into a wind chill of about -8 The best plan seemed to be a lazy Sunday indoors to play with the newly acquired speedlight. I have not used flash much always preferring natural daylight. However there was no daylight to speak of today so mounting the flash off camera and using a Flashbender reflector spent a pleasant hour snapping the flower heads.
It's still dull, miserable and bitterly cold here but at least we are not snowed in. I do hope those further north are not suffering too much from this awful weather.
