Short-eared Owl

A cycle about Sanday in often quite misty conditions, which made photographing distant birds a challenge. It was clear enough when I took this shot. A second bird was nearby, I think it a young bird waiting for a meal from this adult(extra). I was looking for autumn migrants and found the more expected ones like golden plover, bar-tailed and black-tailed godwits, wigeon, loads of wheatears etc. as well as resident ravens, hen harrier, snipe and others.  Also in extras a ruin on Start Point. I liked the autumnal colours of the dockens and the yellow lichen on the roofs of the ruin.
