How arth

thou?

Took the train to London (1hr 20min) to the wonderful old world style specialist woodwind shop in Marylebone, in order for them to sell it our bassoon for us, as our son no longer has any interest. We bought it from them 7 years ago.

The Wallace Collection
Then visited an outstanding arts collection housed in an old mansion a 5 minute walk away, which was given to the nation a while back. A few choice objects which I always prefer. My mobile stopped working, so frustratingly have no pictures; working now I have sorted it at home.

Amongst it's sumptious rooms, it had the most unusual and finest quality  paintings (14th - 18th centuries), many of which were Dutch School. The Rembrandts, and this picture much smaller, darker and better in real life struck me as well https://www.wallacecollection.org/blog/may-treasure-of-the-month-2020/ .

Also housed by far the best medieval armour I've ever seen, including Ottoman, Indian, Chinese, German, Italian.

Notionally free, but £5 donation needed to enter I would have no hesitation recommending it to anyone with any bent to the arts.

Very pleased with my pacing, spending only 3.5 hours in London; very tired today, as expected.
