Feast your eyes
I was expecting the piano tuner at 10 am. I reckoned he would have time to tune the piano before Mum and I drove to Durham for her optician appointment.
He was nearly an hour late. Margaret (across the road) came to our rescue and house sat while he finished the job. He took 3 hours so I'm excited to play an in tune piano again.
We made good time on our journey to Gilesgate, Durham. My extra is from the disabled toilet at the Laundry which we visit on arrival The staff are very kind to let us use their facilities. (The toilet in the optician's is difficult to access and tiny, so the wheelchair won't go in there.)
Everyone was delighted to see Mum and hear about her party. While she had her eyes tested, the staff organised a card and a bunch of flowers for her. Wasn't that lovely?
New specs have been ordered. Simon Berry, the lovely optician, also managed to scan Mum's retina and announced that it was as good as someone half her age!!
On our way home, we called at Halls of Heddon, a well known growing nursery near Heddon on the Wall. The dahlia beds are splendid at the moment. The open flowered dahlias attract loads of bees and butterflies as you can see in my main image.
