Project 365 day 259:

When I went to hang out the laundry this morning, the sunshine was unexpectedly warm and the garden was alive with insects. The long drift of anemones, pink and white, were floating gently in the breeze, frequented by all kinds of flies, and the hedge full of ivy beside the shed was humming with bees, hoverflies and all kinds of small things which didn't keep still long enough to be examined for identification.

I decided to have a little break from the macro lens today, and took out my lovely 55-250 which gives great bokkeh and allows lots of flexibility in the framing. The pink anemones against shadowy backgrounds proved hard to expose, but I like the contrast with the yellow stamens and their crisp shadows on the soft petals. The insects on the ivy were not settling for long enough to allow for much photography, but I managed just one shot in good enough focus to allow some cropping.

I enjoyed coffee in the sun on the balcony this morning while doing some admin, and when J's PA left at teatime it was still warm enough for us to sit outside together making a fuss of the cats, while I helped her develop some ideas for her weekly writing workshop tomorrow. Yesterday's photos were very autumnal, but today it has felt like late summer again.
