Garlic & Onions
If you look back at yesterday's garden blip you can see this mini deep bed in the far left next to the fence. These are the garlic and onions which I started off last Autumn, they are doing quite well. The little rosettes of green leaves to the right are corn salad (think they're called maché in France), on the left are a few plants of American land cress, both are very nice in salads. This is what was growing in this bed at the end of April last year.
I bought these deep bed kits quite cheaply about 5 years ago, they are still in good condition - you can see another one dismantled and drying out in the background.
The green tunnelling hoops are about 50 years old, they belonged to my Father - I had old net curtains draped over them when I started the crops off to stop the birds from pulling everything up!
It has been dry and windy, two lots of washing dried outdoors today! It was another very cold morning and only slightly warmer this afternoon.
