Monster from The Deep
I went to sleep on the beach at Scapa and awoke to find this beast bearing down on me. Fortunately, it was only about 10cm tall.
We have no snow, unlike doon sooth and it was dry. I cycled along to Scapa to find the tide at about the lowest I've seen here. This was good for the wading birds as it opened up more mud to sift for food. There were about forty bar-tailed godwits, one black-tailed, dunlin, oystercatchers, turnstones, curlews, ringed plover and redshank. A great northern diver was very close to the pier. and a pair of ravens on a cliff where they probably have a nest.
