Llandovery and Llywelyn ap Gruffydd Fychan of Caeo

Llandovery and Llywelyn ap Gruffydd Fychan of Caeo.
We visited Llandovery today, about 7 miles from out site. Still getting used to driving ‘Henry the Campervan’ down narrow roads!! We made an early start at 11:00 :) to spend the day there. Really lovely Town. We did some shopping and had lunch at a cafe, then wandered round the town taking photos. Then returned to the car park.

Llandovery Castle is at the car park and there is an most excellent Stainless Steel statue of Llywelyn ap Gruffydd Fychan of Caeo ( c. 1341–1401) who was a wealthy Carmarthenshire landowner who was executed in Llandovery by Henry IV of England in punishment for his support of Owain Glyndŵr's Welsh rebellion. The statue was commissioned in 2001 it recognises ‘A Brave Nobody’ after a move to recognise his actions that started in 1998.

I am gonna have to read up about this sometime, sounds fascinating. Makes me think of Hereward the Wake in our area
