No idea - I do house not garden!

Having spoken to a couple of visitors in the house this morning I met them again outside as I went off duty. They asked me if this huge tree is a Magnolia? I am not the person to ask - me and plants? Noooo! 
However I was reasonably confident that it is not a Magnolia - too late in the year and Magnolia sheds its leaves doesn’t it - this looks like an evergreen ?
Then I spotted the gardening volunteers working on the parterre  - so I took the visitors to them. I couldn’t stay to find out the answer as I was hungry and the dogs were expecting me home.  
At least it wasn’t raining like it was on Tuesday’s Blip!
