My First Ever Peach Crisp Is A Smash Hit!
When we were grocery shopping the other day, my husband spotted some huge peaches on sale for 99 cents a pound. We had never seen peaches that large, so I picked out three of them and we brought them home and admired them. SO BIG!!!
I got the great idea that I should try making some crisp, using the standard, simple apple crisp recipe that I love, but including peaches instead of apples. So I peeled and diced up two of the huge peaches and made a batch of crisp.
It smelled heavenly while it was baking, all peaches and brown sugar and cinnamon. And when it was done, I cut it into four parts and placed each in its own container. I left one sitting out on the counter and refrigerated three.
Later in the evening, the truth came out! My husband heated up the serving of peach crisp that I left out, and I heard him MOANING as he walked back the hallway eating it with a spoon. Yes, MOANING. I took a bite and soon I was doing the same thing!
So it was ultra-delightful, and the only thing I could think of that might make it better would be to top it with some of the PSU Berkey Creamery's Grilled Stickies ice cream. Yes, that would be the icing on the cake, so to speak.
"OH MY GOODNESS!!! THE CRISP!!" My husband and I keep saying to each other. Best of all, THERE ARE THREE CONTAINERS LEFT!!! So here is a photo of my first ever peach crisp - let's just call this a success!!!
My soundtrack song: this guy is moving to the country, where he's gonna eat a lot of peaches: The Presidents of the United States, with Peaches.
