Best of Wives and Best of Women

My Dear Princess and Dear Friends,

Today was a much better day for me. What happened yesterday was that Shenée had managed to annoy me at work and it is just WEIRD being in that situation with someone I feel very close to. I didn't know how to handle it and stressed out.

Long story short, we had a long chat this morning; it was a total misunderstanding that we resolved in 5 minutes. We both apologised to each other and never stopped being friends. This is the important thing, I told her. Work is work, but we are always mates.

As you may know, Shenée refers to Caro, Ellie, Corrie, Fazzy and herself as the "Zulu Wives" - essentially the women who rule my life. Shenée ululates when she talks about herself in this group. And tonight was "Hamilton" night for the Zulu Wives. All four of them were to come over and watch the movie projected on the wall with Tiger and Loulou.

Of course, plans being plans, it fell apart almost at once. Despite high enthusiasm, Shenée had to drop out. Despite higher enthusiasm, Loulou was feeling too ill to attend.

"I'll come round with a USB stick and we can watch it together some time," I suggested.

However, Fazzy, Ellie and Corrie were able to attend! This despite the fact that Corrie was assigned last-minute babysitting duties and also brought along her 7 year old niece, Mila.

It was a hugely successful evening, despite lack of Shenée and Loulou. Ellie and Caro got on as well as I knew they would. They had actually met just last week at Shenée's but tonight they REALLY got to talk and mutually cracked each other up.

Meanwhile, Fazzy asked Caro how she did her hair. Caro offered to come over to Fazzy's and show her how it was done. "And Shahier can make dinner and Symon can babysit," suggested Caro.

"Done!" replied Fazzy. Then they informed me of their plan. I'll be honest here, there was some evil cackling.

Poor "Zulu Husbands", that is all I shall say.

Poor Mila, meanwhile, had a 2 and a half hour musical to sit through. I OFFERED her cartoons on my laptop, but she wasn't having it, she just wanted to be with Auntie Corrie. Although she did enjoy cuddling Jasper who was a VERY GOO' BOY and let her play with him.

The musical was obviously fantastic, but the visitors also loved Caro's platter, the company, the pizza and the whole thing. The only downside was a COMPLETE SELFIE FAIL and I forgot to get pictures.

So a much better day. I'm so lucky to work alongside these women. But more importantly, we are always mates.

S.
