Gone To Seed
For Flower Friday I thought I’d highlight the final stage of the Common Milkweed plant. Its beautiful white flowers are gone now but the plant has formed seed pods which, as you can see, have already burst open. These seeds will soon be scattered to the ground by Autumn winds where they will overwinter and germinate in the spring. We grow both Common and Swamp varieties specifically for Monarch Butterflies but of course all pollinators enjoy them through the summer • Thank You, BikerBear, for hosting Flower Fridays! • We trimmed the last of our potato plants today, meaning we can harvest them in 10-14 days; we harvested 8 small pumpkins and pulled that last plant; the remaining tomatoes were picked, and those two plants pulled. A second crop of Broccoli is all that’s growing in our garden now • Nature is winding down as one season ends, and another is about to begin • Happy Weekend!
