Rope Burn

John has just taken himself of to A&E to check out the rope burn he got this evening. He was just ending the ringing when the stay on the bell broke and the rope went whizzing through his hand. This is a very rare occurrence and a part of the bell that's built to fail. Accidents in bellringing are, fortunately, extremely unusual and you need to know what you are doing; it is much more than just pulling on a rope.

I doubt J will be detained long. I need to be off early in the morning as I'm helping a friend shoot a wedding, so I'll not be around for nursing duties! This is one occasion when I can't stop home!
