The Worshipful Company of Carmen Cart Marking

The Worshipful Company of Carmen cart marking ceremony in Guildhall Yard. 

To control the number of vehicles working in the City of London the Keeper of the Guildhall was empowered to license and mark carrs and carts to stand and ply for hire in the City’s streets with every vehicle having to have a number and to be marked each year.

The Worshipful Company of Carmen continue with the tradition and hold an annual ceremony where a variety of vehicles from historic vehicles up to present day vehicles are paraded and marked.
