Worcester

We went to Worcester today to spend a little time at Emma and Andy's house dog sitting (actually, having a little holiday!) whilst they shot down to Dawlish to do a house swap with Colin.

We took a walk to nearby Gheluvelt Park after a spot of lunch.  It was a lovely sunny afternoon, though rain was forecast.  After coffee at the Pump House cafe we wandered over to see the WW1 memorial in remembrance of the War itself and especially the Worcestershire Regiment who fought at the battle of Gheluvelt in 1914.

The 27 panels represent the bi-monthly period of the War.  Each panel's height is measured in British Empire casualties, one centimetre for 500 casualties within the two month period.  The slots relate to the name and duration of the major battles wherein some of these casualties occurred.
