1940s Weekend
A couple of photos for you of people dressed up for the 1940s weekend at the North Norfolk Railway. The jeep was outside the village shop on my newspaper walk in Weybourne, and the young woman and baby were in Holt. Sheringham and Holt are normally heaving during this annual event, but as it was confined to the railway, Holt was quieter than a normal weekend this morning, I only saw two groups dressed up. There's normally such a buzz and people are having fun, it was really sad to see the town so empty. I might pop to Sheringham tomorrow. A lovely day, I did some gardening this afternoon and sat reading in the garden.
Day 551 / Day 62 of Step 4 of Roadmap Easing (for my record only)
An antibody cocktail called Ronapreve is to be used from next week across the UK to treat Covid hospital patients who've not developed an adequate antibody response (in over 50s or immunocompromised). It's been shown to reduce hospital stays by 4 days and the risk of death by a fifth. 19 cases of a new mutation of the Delta variant has been identified by PHE in the UK with the 'Eeek' variant (E484K) which is associated with immune escape in other strains. The US President says 'virtually all Covid deaths and hospitalisations are from unvaccinated people. A tool has been developed by UK researchers to id those at highest risk from Covid despite having been vaccinated. The Sun has reported that 2 professional dancers in Strictly have refused to be vaccinated.
