Parrotleaf

Persian Ironwood parrotia persica.  

Glorious autumn colour they said.  They weren't wrong, but the spectacular leaves don't stay long on the tree - thought that may also be a side effect of the recent prolonged dry spell as a fair few of our trees are looking a bit stressed.

Interesting how the long superseded name Persia is kept for some things - I guess "Iranian carpets", etc. don't sell so well.
