Byland Abbey
Saturday 18th September 2021
Time to pack up and return home, but not before a day out. We left Staithes and stopped at Sandsend for a walk along the beach. On to the West Cliff at Whitby for a coffee stop and to take in the view. We then took the scenic route across the North Yorkshire Moors, via the village of Rosedale Abbey right in the centre of the moor. The views are tremendous. We stopped on the side of the road on the hill above Rosedale Abbey for our picnic, looking out over the valley.
As Sutton Bank is closed at present we went down the hill before that and along the bottom, which meant we could stop at Byland Abbey for a cuppa. Straight back to Leeds after that to unpack the car, sort ourselves out and have a cup of tea. Unfortunately it was then time for me to set off back over the Pennines. It was lovely to have a few days with Mum and my sister. Hopefully it won't be another two years before I see my sister again.
