Newstead Abbey

We had an early start as we had to have our canal boat dropped off before 9am this morning. A taxi ride followed back to Sowerby Bridge to collect our cars before we started the journey home. On our way home the M1 was closed so instead of fighting through the stationary traffic, we diverted slightly to Newstead Abbey. It was near where Annie's grandparents used to live and she was a regularly visitor as a child. We enjoyed a walk around the Japanese garden and looking over the lake. The blip shows not the abbey but the stable block and quarters. It was well worth a stop.
