Concrete

Not sure what this actually is. It could be a war time left over, or a less melodramatic and mundane piece of civic engineering... You can hear the river when you are near it, so I think it's probably to do with the river level management - the Hippodrome is built over the top of a river, and where I stood to take this picture is prone to flooding. Though it looks nice, and it was nice, the ground was wet, and every bounding step my four legged companion took generated a small splash!
