Tin Shed

We were packing the car early, but not too early, then set off on our long journey north to Raasay.  The journey went very smoothly and we made good time.  We stopped for a picnic at a spot which is meant to be a viewpoint.  I think it might have been a viewpoint many years ago – but the trees have grown.  We weren’t impressed and by the look so things neither were most of the other people who stopped as most were off again in five minutes.  We hung around just long enough to  eat and stretch our legs, before continuing our journey.  The weather was getting more and more miserable the nearer we got to Skye.

We made the Raasay ferry with a wee bit of time to spare which was good.  Once on the ferry we weren’t allowed out of our car, which was very disconcerting, as it was very difficult to tell if we were moving as we couldn’t see anything.  A couple of our friends were already on Raasay, and texted to say they were watching out ferry approaching – so we knew we were moving.  It doesn’t take long to get to Raasay and we headed to check in at our accommodation and met up with our friends.  The rest of our group were due to be on later ferries.

We went to Raasay House Hotel for a wee drink to mark the start of our little holiday.  One went down rather too well, so a second was called for.  By which time more of our group had arrived and a third was on the cards.  I declined and BB and I went out for a wee walk along the coast and left them to it.  We walked until we couldn't stand the midges any more and then headed back.

By the time we got back it was time for dinner, as everyone had arrived.

We had a really lovely evening with such good company.  We haven’t been all together since pre-COVID, apart from on Zoom calls.  The food was wonderful – and huge portions.   Most of us were staying in the distillery, so we headed back there for post-dinner drinks.   A lovey way to round off our evening.

BB and I walked past this old tin shed, so typical of the islands.
