The Rain Stopped
It rained all night, and then a few bursts here and there. But the sun peeked out a few times and I even got out to wander through the garden a bit. Most of the sunflowers and cosmos got flattened by the winds. But the gardens have been thoroughly watered for the first time in months! And I am sure that the weeds are enjoying every bit of moisture.
We walked in the Arboretum this morning, as we do most Sunday mornings. The meadows are watered now of course, but still look like they're bone dry. Some trees are just starting to turn - probably due to stress more than the coming autumn. And here's a typical Portland sky - with the clouds breaking up over the hills...and then a minute later obscuring the blue skies hiding just behind.
