Waxeye ...
..... ..... ..... up high on a branch above Tobins Track this morning. It was a lovely morning, and with great views plus others on the track, plus their dogs, it was thoroughly enjoyable.
These little birds were feeding high in the trees and tricky to photograph. They just wouldn’t let me get closer. But this result isn’t too bad.

As an apparently self-introduced bird it is protected as a native New Zealand species. Its Māori name, tauhou, means "stranger" or more literally, "new arrival".
Delta has now appeared just over Auckland’s southern border, leaving the Govt with a difficult problem. Auckland itself is still going to move down to Level 3 tomorrow night, but the area of Hauraki is to be ‘ring fenced’ so to speak, and will go into a bespoke Level 4. Tricky. The whole country south of there will stay in Level 2.
