Yorkshire Sculpture Park
Today we visited the fabulous Yorkshire Sculpture Park. The modern and contemporary sculptures are set in the 500 acre 18th century Bretton Hall estate near Wakefield, West Yorkshire.
Founded in 1977 it was the first sculpture park in the UK. There’s work here by lots of well known artists including Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth, Ai Weiwei, Andy Goldsworthy and Damien Hirst.
The sculpture in the photo is Buddha by Niki de Saint Phalle. Her work tends to be big and colourful. She uses mirror, glass and stone to create vivacious, glittering sculptures.
I can’t recommend this place highly enough. It’s a beautiful landscaped setting for some top quality art. And we had a sunny day to enjoy it all!
