Obedient
The Obedient Plant, Physostegia virginiana, is a Florida Native and indeed a native of a large part of North America. The flowers are 'snapdragon-like;' and a beautiful shade of pinkish lavender. It has a square stem, typical of the mint family. It's called 'Obedient' because if you bend the flowers off center, they'll stay in the new position for a while, 'Obediently'. This 'well-behaved' plant seeds profusely and although not, in my opinion invasive, will spread beautifully in the yard.
