Switching off
We’ve come away for a few days - following a recommendation for this hotel in the form of my sister’s foodie photos from her last stay here. It feels very “away”, here in the Borders, with no sea, no noisy seagulls… in fact, there was no noise at all on our pre-prandial perambulations (sorry!) in the extensive grounds.
Bit more tooth trauma before we left home (mercifully not after!) when half a molar started clattering around in my porridge - probably the casualty in the last dental mishap. An anguished phone call to our dentist found me only ninety minutes later having a temporary filling put in and the promise of a call in the coming months to arrange for something more permanent. I think our dental practice is magic.
The saddest moment of the day came with the news that our friend died last night of Covid. Not unexpected, but deeply affecting. May he rest in peace and rise in glory.
